The Demonic Parodies: How Satan Mocks God's Sacred Works in Our Modern World

As I sit here in Peru, reflecting on the spiritual battles we face in these turbulent times, my heart is heavy yet hopeful. Inspired by a recent  message I heard, I want to share with you a deeper exploration of how Satan creates twisted, demonic parodies of the holy things God and Christ have established. These are not abstract ideas but real, insidious counterfeits that infiltrate our culture, families, and even our churches. Drawing from Scripture, the insights of Jonathan Cahn in his eye-opening book *The Return of the Gods*, and profound theological comparisons, let's unpack this spiritual warfare and arm ourselves with truth.

The Empty House: A Parable for Our Times

Jesus warns us in Matthew 12:43-45 about a demon that, once cast out, returns with seven more wicked spirits if the "house" remains empty. This isn't just a personal caution—it's a prophetic picture of societies and nations. For centuries, the gospel of Christ held back ancient demonic forces in the West. But as we've removed God from public life—banning prayer in schools, redefining marriage, and prioritizing self over sanctity—these spirits have rushed back in. Jonathan Cahn masterfully illustrates this in *The Return of the Gods*, showing how pagan deities like Baal, Ishtar, and Molech, once suppressed by Christianity, now parody God's designs in modern guises.

Imagine a home swept clean but left vacant: that's America today. Without the filling of the Holy Spirit, these ancient evils return stronger, mocking the Creator's works with deceptive imitations that lead to destruction. As conservative Christians, we must recognize this not as progress, but as regression into idolatry.

Baal: The Parody of God's Sovereignty

Baal, the Canaanite god of storms and fertility, demanded worship that turned hearts from the true God. In *The Return of the Gods*, Cahn links Baal's spirit to our culture's obsession with material power and self-reliance. Think of the bronze bull statue on Wall Street—a symbol of greed and economic idolatry. This is Satan's parody of Jehovah Jireh, our Provider (Genesis 22:14). Where God calls us to humble dependence—"Trust in the Lord with all your heart" (Proverbs 3:5)—Satan tempts us with self-exaltation, echoing the serpent's lie in Eden: "You will be like God" (Genesis 3:5).

The emotional toll is devastating. Families fracture under the weight of workaholism and consumerism, children grow up valuing success over salvation. We've traded the peace of God's provision for the anxiety of Baal's false promises. Brothers and sisters, let's reclaim our trust in the Almighty, rejecting these counterfeits that steal our joy.

Ishtar: The Mockery of God's Created Order

Ishtar, or Ashtoreth in Scripture, was the goddess of sexuality, fertility, and blurred boundaries. Cahn connects her return to the sexual revolution of the 1960s and today's gender confusion, which assaults God's design: "So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them" (Genesis 1:27). What God intended as holy union in marriage—a beautiful reflection of Christ's love for His Church (Ephesians 5:25)—Satan parodies with promiscuity, perversion, and identity redefinition.

This parody breaks hearts on a massive scale. Young people wander lost in a fog of lies, suffering from depression, broken relationships, and spiritual emptiness. As a community grounded in biblical truth, we must compassionately proclaim God's order, offering healing to those wounded by Ishtar's deceptions. Remember, true freedom comes not from rebellion, but from submission to the Creator's perfect plan.

Molech: The Chilling Parody of Christ's Sacrifice

Perhaps the most heart-wrenching parody is Molech, the Ammonite god who demanded child sacrifices for prosperity (Leviticus 18:21). Cahn reveals how Molech's spirit fuels the abortion industry, where innocent lives are sacrificed on the altar of convenience and self-advancement. This directly mocks the cross, where God offered His Son for our redemption: "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son" (John 3:16).

Delving deeper, faithful thinkers like Dr. Peter Kreeft in *Jesus Shock* describe abortion as the Antichrist's demonic parody of Communion. At the Last Supper, Jesus said, "This is my body, given for you" (Luke 22:19)—an act of selfless love, His life for ours. In Communion, we remember and partake in that sacrifice, receiving grace and unity with God.

Contrast this with the abortion slogan's twist: "This is my body," used not for sacrifice but self-assertion, ending one life for another's choice. As Kreeft writes: "Abortion is the Antichrist’s demonic parody of the Eucharist. That is why it uses the same holy words, 'This is my body,' with the blasphemously opposite meaning." Philosopher Alice von Hildebrand called it a "satanic mockery" of Communion, inverting sacrificial love into destruction. Cardinal John O'Connor linked belief in Christ's presence in Communion to recognizing human sacredness, while Walker Percy contrasted the "culture of death" with life's true culture.

The grief is overwhelming—millions of unborn children, each "fearfully and wonderfully made" (Psalm 139:14), silenced forever. As conservatives, we feel this deeply: a nation founded on "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness" now endorses Molech's horrors. It stirs righteous anger and calls us to action—praying, voting, and supporting life-affirming ministries.

Hope Amid the Darkness: Victory in Christ

Yet, praise God, we are not defeated! These demonic parodies are mere shadows before the King of Kings. As Cahn emphasizes, the gospel that once banished these "gods" can do so again. Fill your "house" with the Holy Spirit: repent, immerse in Scripture, and live out biblical values in your home and community.

In closing, let's pray: Heavenly Father, expose these mockeries, protect the vulnerable, and revive our land. Empower us to stand firm, loving boldly in Jesus' name. Amen.

What are your thoughts, readers? Share in the comments how you've seen these parodies and overcome them through faith.

In Christ,
