FDA launches jihad against nut distributor for educating the public

When the federal government gets into the business of classifying walnuts as a "drug," you know that American medical innovation is going down the crapper! Politics destroys most everything it touches and medical care is no exception. That's why in the coming months you are going to hear more and more from me about the importance of medical self reliance. Let's start with a new plan by FDA bureaucrats to expand their dominion over walnuts. Why? Because walnuts are a natural therapy available as a supplement to – or, in some cases, a replacement for – prescription drugs! Some private marketers are exercising their First Amendment rights to say so. Enter FDA bureaucrats, who only last year sent an ominous "warning letter" to Diamond Foods, Inc. FDA scolds have an issue with the way Diamond referenced scientific and medical studies in their marketing. In essence, the FDA told Diamond Foods, Inc. – Walnuts Are Drugs ! Here are some excerpts from the ridiculous l...

I was lied to

The President and Congress promised that Obamacare would bring down healthcare costs. But Medicare's Chief Actuary, Richard Foster, just testified to the House Budget Committee that this claim is "false, more so than true." This makes me think I was lied to. President Obama also promised that everyone who likes their current health insurance would be able to keep it. But many people are already losing their old health insurance because of Obamacare. This feels like another lie. Candidate Obama promised that his healthcare bill would contain no requirement that would enrich health insurance companies by forcing citizens to buy their products. He even said, "Well, if things were that easy, I could mandate everybody to buy a house, and that would solve the problem of homelessness. It doesn’t." Mr. Obama made quite a point of this when debating Hillary Clinton, but the law that people now call by his name, Obamacare, does exactly what he PROMISED it would not do. ...

Pelosi: Constitution Be Damned, we will Pass ObamaCare At All Costs

Nancy Pelosi just unveiled Plan B. If she can't strong-arm the votes she so desperately needs to shove ObamaCare down your throat, she's going to simply "deem" the Senate version of ObamaCare passed in the House of Representatives without actually voting on it. House Minority Leader John Boehner called this latest development a "controversial trick." Rep. Thaddeus McCotter used the phrases "acme of arrogance" and "shredding the U.S. Constitution" to describe what is going on right now. But even Boehner's and McCotter's descriptions might be gross understatements. Think about it... why stop at allowing radical leftists in Congress to "deem" that laws have passed without votes? Why not disband the Senate and the House of Representatives altogether and allow Barack Obama, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid to simply invoke laws the American people oppose by direct declaration? Isn't that, after all, what they ar...

State of The Union Commentary

Wednesday night, I suffered through Mr. Obama’s speech . I noticed the overarching theme was: in 2010, the administration will finally getting around to all it promised for 2009, as well as a whole other year worth of miracles. He begins by taking credit for saving the economy from a second Great Depression. “[W]e acted, immediately and aggressively. And one year later, the worst of the storm has passed.” Except for the massive unemployment, which he notes in his next breath. Wasn’t the worst of the storm the pain of the American people? Or was it the so-called credit freeze that Mr. Obama seems to imply is still happening: “[W]hen you talk to small-business owners in places like Allentown, Pennsylvania, or Elyria, Ohio, you find out that even though banks on Wall Street are lending again, they’re mostly lending to bigger companies. Financing remains difficult for small-business owners across the country, even though they’re making a profit.” Here’s another thing that doesn’t add up fo...

Time for an American Health Care solution: Empower Patients — Not Government and Insurance Companies.

The dust is settling on the rejection of President Obama's government and corporate takeover of American Medical care. But lovers of liberty must remain vigilant for attempts to compromise that will actually create the same problems for Americans. Obamacare was always about one thing only: control of medical care and medical spending by parties outside of the patient-physician relationship. Sadly, there are many in the Republican party who support the same thing: control by third parties. They will be now be tempted to pursue these "cost control" measures -- to satisfy their own special interests and to appear to offer "solutions" for political reasons. They will be making a mistake and the American people must reject compromises of principle for political expediency. Obamacare's core elements fell into two broad categories: 1) covering the "uninsured" and 2) controlling medical costs. "Universal coverage" has been a holy grail of Statist...

John Stossel Lays Waste to ObamaCare

ABC's token sane person leaves ObamaCare in smoldering ruins: If Dems are successful in seizing control of the healthcare system, Americans will die. Tip from Moonbat Little Green Apples:

Well...If I Wasn't On That List Before...

Yes, Obama really said this: 'We also want to start rewarding doctors for quality, not just the quantity of care that they provide. Instead of rewarding them for how many procedures they perform or how many tests they order, we’ll bundle payments so providers aren’t paid for every treatment they offer to a patient with a chronic condition like diabetes, but instead are paid for how are they managing that disease overall." Make no mistake, this is not about health care. It’s about absolute power. It’s about playing God. Imagine a 78-year old man with heart disease who goes in for quadruple bypass surgery. The surgery was a success. He thinks so. His doctor thinks so. His family thinks so. But Obama doesn’t think so. Why would a successful procedure be unsuccessful under the Obama health care plan? Well, for starters, this man is 78 years old. By democrat standards that’s way too old for this type of procedure unless you’re Ted Kennedy and you need another lobotomy. This man cou...
