Daily Faithfulness with Permanent Limitations
Primary Scripture: Colossians 3:23-24; 1 Corinthians 10:31 “And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.” “Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.” Disability often forces a severe reduction in the scale of activity. Tasks that once took minutes now take hours. Responsibilities once carried easily must be laid down. The temptation is to conclude that usefulness has ended. Scripture rejects that conclusion. Faithfulness is not measured by the size of the task but by the heart with which it is done and the Lord for whom it is done. Managing medical routines with integrity, speaking patiently under discomfort, continuing in prayer for others, offering a word of encouragement from a place of weakness—these are genuine acts of service when offered to Christ.
