Congressional Reform Act of 2010

Below is a suggested act for those wonderful members of our legislative branch of government. Congressional Reform Act of 2010 1. Term Limits. 12 years only, one of the possible options below.. A. Two Six-year Senate terms B. Six Two-year House terms C. One Six-year Senate term and three Two-Year House terms 2. No Tenure / No Pension. A Congressman collects a salary while in office and receives no pay when they are out of office. 3. Congress (past, present & future) participates in Social Security. All funds in the Congressional retirement fund move to the Social Security system immediately. All future funds flow into the Social Security system, and Congress participates with the American people. 4. Congress can purchase their own retirement plan, just as all Americans do. 5. Congress will no longer vote themselves a pay raise. Congressional pay will rise by the lower of CPI or 3%. 6. Congress loses their current health care system and participates in the same health care system as...

Yet another Open Letter to Joe Donnelly

Mr Donnelly, Many times in the year I have written with my concerns and opposition to the “Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act” What are you going to do if Mr Obama does not issue the promised executive order? Or more likely the suits that will be filed to reject the order succeed? To quote Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of the Susan B. Anthony List. "The executive order on abortion funding does absolutely nothing to fix the problems presented by the health care reform bill that the House will vote on this evening,” she said. “The very idea should offend all pro-life Members of Congress. An executive order can be rescinded at any time at the President's whim, and the courts could and have a history of trumping executive orders. Most importantly, pro-abortion Representatives have admitted the executive order is meaningless." What are you going to do this November Mr Donnelly when you are removed from office for not listening to those you swore to represent, for ...

Time for an American Health Care solution: Empower Patients — Not Government and Insurance Companies.

The dust is settling on the rejection of President Obama's government and corporate takeover of American Medical care. But lovers of liberty must remain vigilant for attempts to compromise that will actually create the same problems for Americans. Obamacare was always about one thing only: control of medical care and medical spending by parties outside of the patient-physician relationship. Sadly, there are many in the Republican party who support the same thing: control by third parties. They will be now be tempted to pursue these "cost control" measures -- to satisfy their own special interests and to appear to offer "solutions" for political reasons. They will be making a mistake and the American people must reject compromises of principle for political expediency. Obamacare's core elements fell into two broad categories: 1) covering the "uninsured" and 2) controlling medical costs. "Universal coverage" has been a holy grail of Statist...

The Worst Bill Ever

It’s no wonder people oppose it. The Wall Street Journal this morning called the Pelosi bill “ The Worst Bill Ever ,” with a subheadline “Epic new spending and taxes, pricier insurance, rationed care, dishonest accounting: The Pelosi health bill has it all.” And this is reflected in Rasmussen’s poll. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi introduced the House version of health care reform legislation last week, but most voters are still opposed to the effort. The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 42% now favor the health care plan proposed by President Obama and congressional Democrats. That’s down from 45% a week ago but unchanged from two weeks ago. Fifty-four percent (54%) now oppose the legislative effort, up three points since last week. Seventy-three percent (73%) of liberals support the plan, but just 18% of conservatives agree. Only 23% of all voters Strongly Support the plan while nearly twice as man (44%) are Strongly Opposed. If you do the math, the...

ObamaCare … the MS Vista of Government Programs

I think the main problem the left is having with ObamaCare is that they have treated it like an ad campaign, seeing the bill as a product to sell to the public. But they have not addressed the fundamental problems with the product they are trying to sell. ObamaCare is the Microsoft Vista of government programs. The government is claiming it will solve all your problems and make your life perfect forever. But consumers see it as just another bloated program that will screw up everything that’s working fine right now. The Government is also like Microsoft in that it’s become so pervasive, you can’t get away from it. Also like Microsoft, because of their exposure to the product, the public is broadly aware of its flaws. And both Microsoft and the Government are noted for Bloatware and indifference to the buying public. The left are ill-equipped to handle this particular marketing campaign, because the Democrats have been lying and using euphemisms for so long, it’s left them with zero pub...

I Am NOT A Shill

In an oped in USA Today titled "Un-American' attacks can't derail health care debate," House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer attack those who've been raucously protesting health care reform at town hall meetings. "These disruptions are occurring because opponents are afraid not just of differing views --- but of the facts themselves," they write. "drowning out opposing views is simply un-american. Drowning out the facts is how we failed at this task for decades." Pelosi and Hoyer say “an ugly campaign is underway not merely to misrepresent the health insurance reform legislation, but to disrupt public meetings and prevent members of Congress and constituents from conducting a civil dialogue. These tactics have included hanging in effigy one Democratic member of Congress in Maryland and protesters holding a sign displaying a tombstone with the name of another congressman in Texas, where protesters also shouted ‘Just ...
