Changed in a Moment, Saved for Eternity
Scripture Reading: 1 Corinthians 15:51-53 (KJV)
"Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all
be changed, In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for
the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we
shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this
mortal must put on immortality."
Praise God for His holy Word! Today, we stand on the solid ground of
Scripture, where the Apostle Paul, inspired by the Holy Spirit, unveils a
mystery that ought to set our hearts ablaze. In 1 Corinthians 15, God gives us
a glimpse of His glorious plan—a day when every born-again believer will be
changed, transformed in a moment, and made ready for eternity with our Savior.
Hallelujah! This is the promise of the resurrection, the hope of every soul
washed in the blood of Jesus.
Paul says, “Behold, I shew you a mystery.” Now, when the Bible talks
about a mystery, it’s not some puzzle to solve; it’s a truth God reveals to
His people. And what a truth it is! “We shall not all sleep, but we shall all
be changed.” Some of us may be alive when Jesus splits the eastern sky, but
whether we’re in the grave or standing on this earth, every child of God will
be transformed. In a moment, quicker than the blink of an eye, at the sound of
the last trumpet, the dead in Christ will rise, and we’ll all be clothed in
bodies that’ll never wear out, never grow old, never die. Can somebody say
“Amen”?
Think about that, church. The Bible says “this corruptible must put on
incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.” These frail,
sin-scarred bodies we carry—prone to sickness, pain, and death—will be changed
into something glorious, fit for the presence of our holy God. This isn’t just
a nice idea; it’s the promise of Almighty God, sealed by the resurrection of
Jesus Christ, who conquered sin and death on the cross and rose victorious on
the third day. Because He lives, we will live! Because He rose, we will
rise!
Now, let’s make this plain. We live in a fallen world. We see the
evidence of sin all around us—broken bodies, broken hearts, broken lives. But
the Word of God declares that what we see now ain’t the end of the story. One
day, that trumpet’s gonna sound, and everything’s gonna change. The perishable
will become imperishable. The mortal will put on immortality. This is the hope
of every believer, the assurance that our salvation in Christ Jesus is not
just for this life but for all eternity.
So, what does this mean for us today? First, it’s a call to hold fast to
the gospel. The Bible says in 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 that the gospel is the
death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. That’s the power that saves
us, and it’s the power that’ll raise us up on that glorious day. If you’ve
trusted in Jesus as your Savior, you’ve got a future that no devil in hell can
take away. But if you haven’t, hear me now: today is the day of salvation.
Don’t wait, because that trumpet could sound at any moment.
Second, this promise ought to change how we live. If we know we’re
headed for glory, why waste time chasing the things of this world? Money
fades, pleasures pass, but the things of God—faith, love, sharing the
gospel—those last forever. Live for Jesus, church! Tell your neighbor about
the Savior. Love your family with the love of Christ. Serve your community
with the joy of someone who knows where they’re going.
Finally, this mystery points us to the power of God. Ain’t nobody but
God who can take a corruptible body and make it incorruptible. Ain’t nobody
but God who can take a sinner like me and you and make us fit for heaven. Our
hope rests in Jesus alone—His blood, His resurrection, His promise. So trust
Him. Lean on Him. And when the worries of this life weigh you down, look up,
because your redemption draweth nigh.
As we leave this place, let’s carry this truth in our hearts: we will be
changed. Let’s live with the urgency of that trumpet call, sharing the gospel
with a lost and dying world. And let’s rest in the assurance that our God is
faithful, and He will do what He has promised. Are you ready for that day? Are
you right with God? If not, come to Jesus today. He’s waiting with open
arms.May the Lord bless you and keep you, and may the hope of the resurrection
fill your soul with joy. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
