The Truth About The Blood: A Timeless Message from Leviticus 17:11

"For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul.”

— Leviticus 17:11 (KJV)

Dear fellow believers who still cling to the old Book, the old paths, and the old-time religion—welcome to this straight-from-the-heart Bible study. In a world drowning in feel-good sermons, self-help spirituality, and churches too embarrassed to mention the blood, we refuse to compromise. Today we open God’s Word to one of the most powerful verses in the entire Bible: Leviticus 17:11. This is not ancient history for Jews only. This is the beating heart of the Gospel that saves your soul and mine.

The Divine Declaration: Life Is in the Blood

God Himself speaks with thunderous clarity: “The life of the flesh is in the blood.” Modern science only confirms what Moses wrote under the inspiration of the Holy Ghost three thousand years ago. Blood carries oxygen, fights disease, and sustains every cell. But beloved, this verse is far more than a biology lesson—it is a theology lesson from Heaven. Life itself is sacred because it belongs to God. And when sin entered the world, the only acceptable payment for that sin was the shedding of life—through blood.

Notice the next words: “and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls.” God provided the blood. It was never man’s clever idea or a cultural tradition. Every lamb, bullock, and goat slain on the Tabernacle altar was God’s own merciful provision, pointing straight to Calvary.

And the verse ends with the unshakeable truth: “for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul.” Not your good deeds. Not church attendance. Not positive thinking. **It is the blood.**

Why the Blood Still Matters in 2026

We live in dangerous times. False teachers flood social media and television screens, peddling a bloodless Christianity that offends no one and saves no one. Some pulpits have removed the hymns of the blood and replaced them with shallow choruses. Yet the fundamentalist Christian still stands on the old rugged cross and declares without apology: **Without the shedding of blood there is no remission of sins** (Hebrews 9:22).

The blood of Jesus Christ is not optional—it is essential. It was the fulfillment of every Old Testament sacrifice. From the skins God provided for Adam and Eve to the Passover blood on the doorposts to the Day of Atonement, every drop pointed to the Lamb of God who would take away the sin of the world.

When Jesus hung on that cruel Roman cross, His precious blood poured out for you and me. That blood paid the debt we could never pay. It satisfied the holy wrath of God. It purchased our redemption once and for all.

Three Eternal Truths Every Bible-Believer Must Hold Fast

1. **The blood is the only acceptable payment for sin.**

Sin demands death. Animal blood could only cover sin temporarily, but the blood of the perfect Lamb of God takes it away forever.

2. **The blood fulfills every Old Testament shadow.**

Leviticus 17:11 is the key that unlocks the entire sacrificial system. John the Baptist saw Jesus and cried, “Behold the Lamb of God!” He was standing squarely on this verse.

3. **The blood is your only hope—today and for eternity.**

If you have never personally trusted the blood of Jesus applied to your heart by faith, you have religion but no redemption. The blood saves you, keeps you, cleanses you daily (1 John 1:7), and makes you an overcomer (Revelation 12:11).

A Call to the Blood-Stained Path

As we gather around the Lord’s Table, we proclaim His death until He comes. The cup is not a symbol of good feelings—it is a declaration: “I stand on the blood. I live by the blood. I will die trusting the blood.”

If you are reading this and have never been born again, today is the day of salvation. Run to the cross. There is no other fountain. There is no other way. Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me” (John 14:6).

The blood still saves. The blood still cleanses. The blood still has wonder-working power.

Will you bow your head right now and thank God for the blood? If you have never trusted Christ, repent and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ today. The blood of Jesus Christ, God’s Son, cleanseth us from all sin.

**To God be the glory—through the blood of the Lamb!**
