The River Rolls On

"Blackness. Nothingness. He did not even know that his heart had given out forever. Nothingness. Then his eyes opened. His heart was beating strongly. He was strong, very strong! All the pain of the gout in his feet, the agony in his liver, the torture in his heart, all were gone. It was so quiet he could hear the blood moving in his head. He was alone in a world of soundlessness. A bright light of equal intensity was everywhere. He could see, yet he did not understand what he was seeing. What were these things above, beside, below him? Where was he?" - Riverworld I just read this morning that Philip Jose Farmer passed away at age 91 on the 25th of Feb. I cannot begin to tell you the hours that I have escaped into one of his stories. From "Riverworld" with Sir Richard Burton, ( Any of you who think I am referring to the actor that was married to Liz Taylor should quietly leave now ), to "The World Of Tiers" with first Robert Wolff then Kickaha, ( Paul Janu...

Nation of Cowards

The first African-American Attorney General Eric Holder said America is “a nation of cowards” when discussing race. He said that Americans are afraid to talk about race, adding that “certain subjects are off-limits and that to explore them risks at best embarrassment and at worst the questioning of one’s character.” Only days later we see Al Sharpton leading protests because they see racism in a cartoon posted by New York Post depicting two police officers shooting a chimp with one policeman saying “We will have to find someone else to write the next stimulus bill”. ( click here ) Is it any wonder why America has become a country of cowards when we have media clown like Sharpton that can find racism in every ink blot? Aren’t there enough incidents of REAL racism that exist among ALL races?

Railing against the storm

President John F. Kennedy once was quoted as saying to an assembled group of scholars in the White House, "I think this is the most extraordinary collection of talent of human knowledge that has ever been gathered at the White House...with the possible exception of when Thomas Jefferson dined alone." "When we get piled upon one another in large cities, as in Europe, we shall become as corrupt as Europe." - Thomas Jefferson "The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not." - Thomas Jefferson "It is incumbent on every generation to pay its own debts as it goes. A principle which if acted on would save one-half the wars of the world." - Thomas Jefferson "I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them." - Thomas Jefferson "My reading of history convinces m...

President Obama's Speech before the combined House

Last Evening we heard an eloquent speech presented by a master orator. He was polished, witty, and it seemed he was very sincere in his desire to help the American people. Once again the American people basked in the gentle glow of their televisions to hear the President of the United States slide around his oath to the Constitution. Having said that; here is a man that less than 5 weeks ago swore an oath to “protect and defend the Constitution;” who spoke for 50 minutes on the many and costly programs that were totally outside the scope of the federal government. This is not about saving money, or banks, or car companies, this is about saving the very principles this great nation was founded upon. What we heard last evening was nothing more than a plea to race headlong toward socialism, to spread the wealth around, as he has said before. He wants to create federal lending funds and housing rescue plans to help individual home owners (wealth redistribution). He wants to swoop down fr...
